Winter Family Glamping: A Cozy Homecoming for the Zegowitz Family at the #1 Rock Tavern River Kamp!1/20/2018
Winter family glamping in the Painted Horse Yurt, a hike at Kennedy Peak -- and hot chicken verde on rice fresh from the crockpot - add-up to a cozy homecoming at the #1 Rock Tavern River Kamp!
"Winter "glamping" in the Painted Horse Yurt was the perfect way to ring in the New Year with my family! This was our second time to stay at Rock Tavern River Kamp, and despite FRIGID weather we had a blast! We hiked to Kennedy's Peak which is just a few minutes drive to the trailhead, and enjoyed one of the best views (360 deg!) from the fire tower platform. Breathtaking! Back at the yurt, we felt right at home, cozy, comfortable and warm - and just steps away from the scenic Shenandoah River which we love. "We fished a little, but mostly enjoyed admiring sunrise and sunset at the river, watching the geese take off and land, and listening to the cracks and pops of the ice as it formed and floated past. Annette is a fabulous host - truly, she made us feel right at home, even showing me how to restart the pilot flame in the bathhouse should it go out (which it didn't). I love that she stopped by to say hi, and we chatted away on the campgrounds like old friends. "The yurt has a mini fridge, a crockpot (it was nice to come "home" to hot chicken verde on rice after visiting Luray Caverns just minutes away), a coffeemaker, a microwave, etc without compromising space for my family of 6 to comfortably sleep. Annette, thank you so much - we had such a special time there together as a family and we'll look forward to coming back again soon!" -- The Zegowitz Family, January 20, 2018 "Antique Case Tractor: Case SC: A Wonderful Gift of History," by Annette Kibler Cates, Owner, 1850's Massanutten Springs Retreat The production of the Case S Series began in 1941. We proudly accept this wonderful gift of History from Mark J. Alger “In Rust We Trust” to put on display for our guests – 1850’s Massanutten Springs Retreat…previously owned by Ed Bell from Long Island, Virginia. "A Happy Holiday at the 1850s Massanutten Springs Retreat!" "This 1850’s two bedroom, two bath cabin had more than enough room for our 8 adults and our 4 legged babies.
"We loved our soak in the large hot tub as the snow fell upon us making for some real Christmas magic. The wood burning fire place was mesmerizing and made us feel the warmth and comfort and history of this amazing cabin. We took turns in the massage chair relaxing while others were getting ready in the deluxe treat of a hot steamy two headed shower. There was lots of love while we cooked, baked, ate and cleaned up together. Family toasts 🥂 at the bar whiling playing games and watching sports on the TV made for even more memories. "I would highly recommend this cabin to everyone. Annette has done a wonderful job providing everything you need and more for a fabulous getaway." Lee Anne & Todd Hamilton Myrtle Beach, SC |
